I sometimes walk by the Laura Geller section at Ulta, mostly interested in their Baked Gelato Swirl blushes. But I personally have never purchased anything from them. I was pretty excited when my best friend Rebecca gifted me with the Laura Geller Piece of Cake Collection for Christmas, whereas I gave her the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette.
The Laura Geller Piece of Cake Collection retails at $59 (valued at $155) and comes with 5 full-sized beauty products and 2 brushes. Rebecca picked the set for medium skin tones for me. From what I'm researching, it's no longer available anywhere.
Here is what the Piece of Cake Collection consists of:
- Baked Balance-N-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation (Medium)
- Baked Blush-N-Brighten (Roseberry)
- Baked Marble Shadow Duo (Amethyst/Unearthed)
- Glamlash Dramatic Volumizing Mascara
- Luscious Lips Liquid Lipstick (Peach Buttercream)
Marble Shadow Duo, Balance-N-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation, Blush-N-Brighten
Baked Balance-N-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation ($33)
I will be honest and say that I thought this was a bronzer at first. When I was swatching, I kept wondering, why is it barely showing up on my arm? LOL! It was only when I had BB cream on my face and was swiping this all over when I saw the label and found that it was a foundation. It looks a bit cakey over liquid foundation. But on it's own? Very sheer coverage, but buildable. Don't let the name "brighten" fool you, this isn't very dewy. I like the dewy look, but not so much where it makes you look greasy. This does not cover the redness of my nose at all. It's in between dewy and matte, and it is one of those "no-makeup" makeup foundations.
Baked Blush-N-Brighten (Roseberry) ($28)
My absolute favorite item in the collection. It's a sweet pink shade that's not too pigmented, so don't worry about looking for feeling like a clown. It's also very buildable, and gives me a healthy glowing flush.
Marble Shadow Duo (Amethyst/Unearthed) ($24)
Both shades have different tones so you can pick a particular shade or mix both for different looks. I'm not big on baked, multi-toned shadow shades, but I like how you can mix it up here, especially the darker parts of the Unearthed side for a smokier look. This is very shimmery. No mattes here!
Glamlash Dramatic Volumizing Mascara ($24)
This is no Too Faced Better Than Sex, but this mascara thickens and lengthens your lashes. It's more natural than dramatic, and I appreciate how it doesn't clump.
Luscious Lips Liquid Lipstick (Peach Buttercream) ($21)
Can I talk about how much I abhor this shade?! (Rebecca, if you're reading this, I'm so sorry!) I thought based on the tube that it was going to be a medium dusty rose like my beloved NARS Dolce Vita lip gloss. Instead, it is a sheer metallic baby pink with silver-tones. I have lip glosses that are more pigmented than this. Not a good look on me. AT ALL. Fill this in with a dark lip liner and viola–welcome back to the early 2000s!
Top–bottom: Marble Shadow Duo (Amethyst), Marble Shadow Duo (Unearthed), Baked Balance-N-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation (Medium), Baked Blush-N-Brighten (Roseberry), Luscious Lips Liquid Lipstick (Peach buttercream)
The collection may no longer be available, but you are able to buy each individual item at Ulta, Nordstrom, QVC and the Laura Geller website (Note: only the Marble Shadow Duo is available on the website, and is currently on sale for $12). My favorite products are the blush, mascara and retractable blush. I have been using the blush pretty frequently. I couldn't be any more disappointed with the liquid lipstick though. I'm glad that this is my first introduction to Laura Geller, and I will definitely check out more of her items next time I am in Ulta!
Do you have anything from Laura Geller?
