I've been using this cream since January and its almost nearly finished so, I thought it was high time for a review. Let's get to it!
Honestly, this stuff is AMAZING. Now I don't want to go into too much personal details (what kind of blogger lady do you think I am?) but, I will say that at times in my life underarm problems have affected me. Of course, over time and learning to be comfortable with less layers have made things extremely better. Yet, being a flower-power child at heart I've always wanted to steer clear of nasty alcohol laden chemical formulas that dried and burnt my skin, didn't help problems and were/are bad for the environment (aerosols). Hence, why I have dipped in and out of trying more natural deodorants. However, I found them to not live up to my expectation thus, I flung myself back to buying cheap deodorants which stung and covered up any unwarranted odours with synthetic powdery scents.
This was not how I wanted to live. So one day after seeing a Kiehl's range in a store I decided to do some research about the products (since I had always seen in around but never paid it much notice) and found out that they did an armpit cream. I looked at some reviews - they seemed favourably, so I thought that it wouldn't be too bad to at least try it and see for myself. Then I went in store and purchased it.
O.k. this product is pricey for an underarm deodorant and my friend who was with me at the time was perplexed about why I would buy such a thing (yeah I have friends). Even I felt a bit silly forking out around £12 for 50mls of something that could've been a complete dud. Thankfully that has not been the case.
I have used this product for a long while now and its absolutely fantastic. It doesn't burn, it doesn't have any fake weird scents (just smells like an standard cream) and you don't have to use a lot. Just a tiny dab, rubbed underneath the armpit (after a shower/bath ... yeah that helps) and you're (I am) good to go. Now I know I paint myself to be a slothful puddle of blubber but, I have run around up and down five flights of steps and still been fresh afterwards whilst using this product.
Now to be helpful with less waffle I've decided to make my review succinct in a question and answer scenario that will hopefully address any question you might have.
Did you sweat? Yes, I did. I sweated as much as I usually do but, without any unwarranted smells. For me sweat is a good thing and I would not want any product to stop me doing that as that would mean it was blocking my glands and possibly could lead to some weird complication that I don't/wouldn't want. I have no evidence of this but sweating is just natural baby - let it flow (lol - only one bracket promise).
I thought you were giving up Aluminium, why would you use it in this product? Yes it has Aluminium and yes I don't want to have that ingredient in an underarm product. I just haven't found it yet. Aluminium is basically used for anti-perspirant properties and is meant to stop you from perspiring. That feature didn't work for me so, I guess Kiehls could get rid of that ingredient ... Do you hear me Kiehl's :)
Does it stain? I haven't noticed any staining on my clothes although I have a bad habit of applying deodorants straight before I put on a top etc. so if there is any staining its probably my fault.
Did you smell? No. Honestly when wearing this I don't smell at all. I can smell my armpit ... umm anyone can be near my armpit and I won't be afraid that their going to pass out on me or call the police about me. So it really is that great.
Would you repurchase? Definitely. The price is steep but from what I gathered this is a fail safe and possibly my HG product for my underarms until I can find something better or at least cheaper that does the same job, with no Aluminium. I might make a natural deodorant myself just to see - time will tell.
