Overdue Praise for Neogen's Day-Light Protection Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++

I'm a big fan of the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence but I didn't like that I had to stock up on it when I go to Asia because I'm wary of ordering skincare products on Amazon. I'm happy to report that I've found an SPF I really like that's readily available from U.S.-based retailers. Neogen's Day-Light Protection Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ ticks off all of the boxes for me in an everyday sunscreen and I wanted to do a quick review on it since I've been using it for a few months now.

This sunscreen dispenses from the tube as a white cream but blends into the skin really easily and leaves a natural, healthy finish. It's not mattifying or dewy and I like how it feels on my skin alone or under makeup. This leaves no white cast so I don't have to worry about it being too light for my skin tone. Neogen did a really great job formulating a high SPF that blends seamlessly into the skin.

The sunscreen has a mild scent that reminds me of something fresh and it doesn't seem to linger on my skin. I have no complaints packaging-wise; it's in a simple plastic tube that lets you dispense as much or as little as you want.

Neogen formulated this sunscreen with both physical and chemical ingredients. I'm not a sunscreen ingredients expert but I think this mix of both mineral and chemical based ingredients makes the formula more suitable for sensitive skin types without being heavy and uncomfortable. Below is the full ingredients list (sunscreen ingredients bolded):

Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl TriazineZinc Oxide, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Hexanediol, Isoamyl P-Methoxycinnamate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Titanium Dioxide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Phyllanthus Emblica Fruit Extract, Rubus Idaeus(Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Carbomer, Lippia Citriodora Leaf Extract, Rosa Damascena Flower Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Angelica Archangelica Root Extract, Beta-Glucan, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Alumina, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil, Citrus Limon (Lomon) Fruit Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Cedrus Atlantica Wood Oil, Disodium Edta, Potassium Hydroxide, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis(Orange) Oil, Aluminum Stearate

My one small gripe about this product is the price. The 50ml tube retails for $30 which is typical for mid-range Western sunscreens but considering it's a Korean brand, I think the mark up is pretty high. There are many popular Asian sunscreens that retail for $15 or less so I think Neogen could have priced this more competitively. That being said, I still think this is a good sunscreen and if you're able to get it with a coupon code or in a value set, it's worth trying.

I'll be headed to Japan and Korea in less than two weeks and looking to stock up on one or two sunscreens so if you have any recommendations, let me know! What's your everyday sunscreen? Do you stick to one and call it a day or do you like to change up your sunscreen after you've used one up?
