"Spring is looking up, literally. For color inspired by nature's most mysterious phenomenon, look no further than the night skies of the north. For an Aurora aura of your own, try Le Metier de Beaute's new spring collection, The Northern Lights.Beginning with the Northern Lights Kaleidoscope Eye Kit, a patina of golden neutrals, silvery blues, bronze and violets, creates a collision of color for a prismatic finish.Four shades - Ionic, Sky, Magnetic, and Equinox."
The Colours, Texture and Longevity
- There are four shades as described below each eye shadow pan photo. They all offer very good pigmentation, but the resulting effect is quite soft. So while they appear to be very bright, colourful shades (particularly, the copper bronze called 'Magnetic' and the vibrant violet 'Equinox'), their softness make them perfectly wearable for day time. Those with brown eyes like myself will enjoy 'Equinox' in particular, while emphasising the use of 'Magnetic' will intensify blue eyes.
- Applied using Le Métier de Beauté’s signature Couche de Couleur layering format, the result will be multidimensional. See swatches of how the layers look below. You can layer 2 or more of the eye shadows in different combinations to give various looks that can also be intensified for evening wear. No stopping you from using individually though - it's just as great. ;)
- The texture of the eye shadows are soft, smooth and very easy to blend. :)
- I found the eye shadows to last all day on my lids, which are neither oily or dry. ^_^
Ionic is a pale, soft satin/matte sunset peach. |
Sky is a pale sky blue with very subtle silver shimmers. |
Magnetic is an intense blazing copper. |
Equinox is a lovely satin/matte twilight violet. |
The packaging is unique in that the eye shadow pans are stacked and you can swivel the appropriate pans to open and close. They all close and click securely for travel or carrying in your hand bag. The packaging is plastic so it's not too heavy. The top-most lid with the logo on it flips open and has a mirror which is always convenient. The lid is securely shut via a magnetic closure. The eye shadow aluminium pans themselves are surrounded by some sort of foam/sponge-like though very sturdy material, which helps to protect the eye shadows and help to absorb/minimise any impact your eye shadows might have during use, travel/carriage.

Final Verdict
Though the shades in the kaleidoscope kit themselves don't scream unique, I do enjoy using this kit. The different shades provide a variety of options and will suit a lot of people. I particularly love the combination of the copper and violet against my brown eyes and olive tan skin. Those with blue eyes can take advantage of the copper shade. The two paler shades provide a great base for pretty much everyone, and suit those with fairer skins in particular. The formulation is so effortless to work with and is fool-proof. Great lasting power, too.
Hope this helps!
